The Green County House was built in 1864 and has held that name through many owners and operators.  In November of 1979 Jim Doyle “Bullet” opened the doors of the Green County House.  It was only fitting to keep the historic name alive.  When Jim and his wife Kay first opened they ran the establishment as a bar and had bands play on the weekends.  In 1981 bullet decided to introduce food, since he owned the steak shack prior to opening the Green County House.   The food business was not new to him, and it was something he enjoyed. That is when our famous Bullets pizzas began along with sandwiches, and many other items!

The pizzas, sandwiches, and appetizer were going so well that in 1983 bullet and Kay opened a full sit down restaurant separate the bar.  They named it Bullets, after Jim’s nickname.  It was a great concept as people could have a bar atmosphere and a dining atmosphere all in the same place.  The bands on the weekends weren’t as popular, so they turned the bar area into a Irish theme and named it Doyle’s Irish Pub.

In 1987 Jim and Kay were trying to come up with a way to use all the space that was in the 2nd level of the Green County House.  They decided to open up another Restaurant for fine Dining and private parties.  A relaxing and quiet dining experience is what Bonnie's is now known for.  The name Bonnie’s came from Kay.  Her First name is actually Bonnie, but most of you know her as Kay which is her middle name.

Jim and Kay’s son Patrick was brought up in the business and was alongside them from the start. He would help wash dishes and mostly just hang out with the workers.  They were like babysitters to him.   Employees and customers remember Patrick walking around, talking to everyone, and sometimes even at the age of 5 being the boss and telling the cooks what they should do. “Make me a pizza! “

In 2008 Patrick took over the restaurant and became the owner.  A few remodel changes were made, but the quality of food and service didn’t change.  So whether you are in the mood for a cold beverage, a delicious pizza, or lobster, the Green County House has it all!  Doyle’s Irish Pub and Bullets are Open 7 days a week at 430. Bonnie’s is open on the weekends only and is available for private parties anytime.
